The PIER59 Studios Summer Series presents “Sculpting Time”. Exploring time based art making with an exhibition showcasing a curation of digital sculptures, films, installations, and generative artwork.

PIER59 Studios Summer Series presents “Sculpting Time”  by Projekt Blank & NowMedia, an exhibition celebrating Media Art, Technology, and Immersive Film at PIER59 Studios in Chelsea on June 26th. The combined forces at Projekt Blank, NOWMedia and PIER59 Studios are coming together to showcase artists working critically with new mediums and discussing the future of art in the digital age. Featuring a curated program of screenings, installations and performances, the inaugural event will present a snapshot of the global creative zeitgeist among digital artists and filmmakers working with emerging mediums.

The theme of the show “Sculpting Time” alludes to the process by which digital art is made and the craft and artistry behind many of the animators shown in the show. As a sculptor takes what they know from the world and through their hands directs tools to carve out their vision and message, so too do all the artists in the show whether through photography, illustration, 3d animation, code, or film. Each piece needed inspiration, took time, and is woven into the fabric identity of each artist. The first of what will hopefully be a series of events, the exhibition will showcase a combination of established and rising artists experimenting with identity through film, digital sculpture, animation, photography, sound and performance.
